From 2019 to 2022, Martha Schwindling conducted design workshops for high-school students at the Heinz-Berggruen-Gymnasium in Berlin. Each year we chose a different task for the students to engage with their designed environment and pursue their individual interests. For the “New Positions” project in 2019, they developed new ways of sitting, standing, moving, and lying down. For “Especially for You” in 2020, they designed an object to improve the life of someone in their own social circle. And for “Social Media” in 2021, they designed new ways to communicate and interact with others.

The workshops are conducted in conjunction with the students’ art teachers and highlight new ways for schools to bring students and professionals together and give students a sense that they can help shape the world in which they live.
